:icondattebayooo: is the next recipient of the random appreciation art I'm drawing for my active watchers! She leaves superbly constructive comments and is generally drop-dead awesome. :love: :hug: :love:

You guys should check out her gallery if you haven't already done so.

This is her Shinigami OC, Takara Koyabashi. The title is a terrible terrible pun; her zanpakutou's name translates to "Crow Prince." And there's only one of it. And it doesn't look like she's killed anyone quite yet. :|

PS: I'm willing to draw your crazy kickass Bleach OCs, so you should definitely commission me to do so. Send me a note if you're interested! :love:


Things I'm testing out here:
1. backgrounds. Apparently I thought that vaguely blurry sketchtastic swamps would come up a lot in future drawings. :shrug:
2. combining soft and cel shading. On the fence about this one. I really like how it looks on the pants, whose proper name I can never remember, but it's a bit odd on the skin. Hopefully I'll get it down with practice!

Things I would especially love help with:
1. Any nice tutorials/walkthroughs for tree-drawing?

Ah, thank you! I'm actually pretty happy with the pose, though I ought to have used a reference to figure out her left arm a bit more accurately. ^^;

I don't have a tutorial for tree drawing, but... I have some maybe useful advice for trees! I usually start with the lower trunk and make it get thinner towards the top and keep branching it out... (but I've been seeing that different types of trees branch out different ways) Here's my best tree: [link]

...I've gotta draw some more that I actually post... (I've got a million that don't show up... for some reason only my crappy ones are here)

Sweet willow! Yeah, trees are very varied-- I think my best bet might just be to practice from photos for a while.

The new shading style looks really good! Especially on her sword and skin, whereit's particularly smooth. My only advice would be to give her gloves more folds or make them thicker, as they don't look particularly fabric-y as they are.

The trousers are called hakama, if that's what you meant? ^-^

I really needed to mention in the note, that I loved the background. It's dark and very creative and I love all the detail down to the fog. I think it compliments Takara's colors. Well, they compliment each other. :XD:
